Mauna Health Centre Project
The Surfers Sunrise Rotary Project Shed is not open every Wednesday and Saturday morning to those that wish to come along and clear their mind, use their time in a useful manner and all while making the world a better place, by being a part of an amazing international project.
It is also the home of the Mauna Health Centre that is currently being built to become an annex to the already standing hospital in Abwatuntora, on Pentecost Island in Vanuatu.
Currently no pathology or X-ray facilities are available at Mauna Hospital despite a high level of admissions in relation to fractures (due to activities such as land diving) and chest infections such as Tuberculosis.
The lack of these facilities results in unnecessary deaths (including a high number of maternal and perinatal deaths). With this project we will be proving Pentecost Island with the X-ray facilities and a blood transfusion machine, to raise the medical abilities at the hospital, and better the health situation on Pentecost island.
3 Rotary clubs, and 4 Rotaract clubs are currently working on piecing together the structure that will then be taken apart again to be sent over and erected on the island.
